Research Topic
Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) have gained significant attention recently for their ability to model and analyse graph-structured data. However, applying GNNs to tabular data requires a conversion process that maps the tabular structure into a graph representation. This research proposes an innovative and novel approach for automatically converting tabular data to graphs, incorporating techniques from Natural Language Processing (NLP) or related domains. By leveraging NLP methods, we aim to enhance the mapping process and capture semantic relationships between data elements, resulting in a more effective and expressive graph representation.

Internship Requirements
Enrollment in a PhD program: The visiting researcher (PhD) internship is designed for students currently pursuing a PhD degree in computer science or a related field. You should be enrolled in a recognised PhD program or institution.
Research background and skills: Strong research and development skills are desirable for this PhD internship. It would be best if you had a solid foundation in computer science research, AI and ML, including a good understanding of relevant theoretical concepts, methodologies, and techniques. Proficiency in programming languages (Python), data analysis, and other research tools are also valuable.
Internship Mode: Remote and Occasionally at the campus if you’re in Ireland.
Expected Outcomes
A novel approach for converting tabular data to graph representation, incorporating NLP techniques to capture semantic relationships.
An enhanced graph representation approach that effectively captures the underlying semantics of the tabular data, facilitating more informative analysis and predictions.
Comparative analysis showcasing the advantages of the proposed method over traditional conversion approaches.
Insights into the potential applications and benefits of integrating NLP techniques into the conversion process for tabular-to-graph data.
PhD Intern will co-author the paper with other data scientists, and it will be published in the Top tyre journals/conferences.

✅ Remuneration: This is an unpaid internship, but CeADAR will supply the cost registration for any potential publication out of this internship. CeADAR can also provide the intern with an allowance for lunch or travel during the placement.
